Office Connector Download and Print Restrictions

Installation Notes
pgVector Add-on Installer
DocuShare 8.1 introduces a dedicated add-on installer for pgVector, replacing the previous manual database setup process. Supports existing PostgreSQL installations (on the same or a remote server) and new PostgreSQL installations. Supports PostgreSQL versions 13 through 18. Vector database connection passwords are automatically encrypted during installation.
Solr
- Multiple DocuShare instances on a single VM with Solr are not supported.
- The Solr engine starts automatically after installation on Linux and Windows. If a Linux server is restarted, Solr must be started manually before starting DocuShare.
- Only a net new install provides the Solr engine. Upgrading from a version running the IDOL Service retains the IDOL engine.
- Solr reindex is required after upgrading to 8.1.

pgVector
- The pgVector add-on for Content Assistant semantic search is installed separately after the main DocuShare installation.
- PostgreSQL is required for pgVector support.
Additional Notes
Xerox recommends that all customers running the IDOL search engine plan their migration to Solr. IDOL support is being phased out and will reach end-of-life in a future release. If you need assistance migrating from IDOL to Solr (KeyView/IDOL to Tika/Solr), contact Xerox DocuShare customer support or your Xerox representative.
XSLT support is scheduled for removal in November 2026. Customers using XSLT-based customizations should begin planning their migration now.
