Resolve Inactive User Accounts After Applying a DocuShare License
Overview
When a new license provides fewer seats for a user level than the number of active accounts currently assigned to that level, DocuShare warns the administrator before applying the license. This can occur when a new license is applied to an existing site during or after an upgrade.
Before You Apply the License
DocuShare compares the new license's seat limit for each user level with the number of active accounts at that level. If the active account count exceeds the new limit, DocuShare displays a confirmation message before applying the key. The message identifies the affected user levels; it does not list the individual accounts that will be deactivated.
Review the affected levels before proceeding. Select Confirm to apply the license, or cancel to leave the current license in place.
Example confirmation message:
The site license you applied includes a smaller number of user level licenses. If the number of user accounts at a user level exceeds the number provided in the new license, DocuShare will inactivate all of the accounts at that level. To activate user accounts and change user levels, go to the Users page under Account Management. Your new site license includes a smaller number of licenses for these user levels:

What Happens After Confirmation
For a license that does not include the Concurrent Users feature, confirming the change applies the new license and deactivates the accounts assigned to each over-limit user level. DocuShare does not deactivate only the number of accounts above the limit. The administrator account may be moved to a user level that is licensed by the new key.
If the new license includes Concurrent Users, user-level seat limits do not trigger this automatic deactivation behavior.
Example warning after applying the license:

If the number of user accounts assigned a user level exceeded the number provided in the new license, DocuShare inactivated all of the accounts. Reactivate Accounts and Assign Available Seats
After applying the license:
1. Open Account Management > Users.
2. Filter the list to show inactive users.
3. Select the accounts you want to restore and assign them to a user level with available seats.
4. Activate the selected accounts.
The user-level license status shows the number of seats available at each level. If there are not enough seats for the selected accounts, DocuShare will not complete the change. Assign accounts within the available limits or obtain a license with additional seats.
Default User Level
The default user level depends on the site's configuration; it is not always CPX. If the new license no longer provides seats for the configured default level, DocuShare may change the default to a level supported by the new license.
