Review DocuShare Server Statistics and Logs
Overview
DocuShare provides server statistics pages to help administrators monitor activity and collect diagnostic information. Statistics are snapshots of system activity; they do not by themselves identify the cause of a problem. Record the time of the issue and compare relevant statistics and logs before contacting Support.
Open Server Statistics
1. Sign in to DocuShare with an account authorized to view server statistics.
2. On a DocuShare web page, use the Server Statistics link under Related Links in the page footer.
3. Select the statistics page relevant to the problem.
Choose a Relevant Statistics Page
- Command Statistics: Shows command activity and governor behavior, including blocked, waiting, and currently running commands.
- Command Blockage Summary: Shows command names, how often commands were blocked, and the reported reason.
- Waiting Commands: Shows commands waiting to run and the reason for the wait.
- Running Commands: Shows commands currently running and affected user handles.
- Active UI User Sessions: Shows active browser sessions, session duration, and time since the last request.
- Content Intake Module Statistics: Shows general Content Intake activity and socket-specific processing results, including successful and failed document creation attempts.
- Content Store Statistics: Shows file-fetch and storage activity since startup.
- Database Statistics: Shows API activity and calls in progress.
- Index Statistics and Event Queue Reports: Provide search/indexing and event-processing information for applicable deployments.
Capture Statistics for a Support Case
1. Note the date, time, and time zone when the problem occurred. Include the DocuShare version and patch level, the affected feature, and the steps that reproduce the issue.
2. Open Server Statistics from Related Links in the DocuShare page footer.
3. Open the statistics view related to the problem. For example, use Command Blockage Summary or Waiting Commands for blocked or delayed requests, Content Intake Module Statistics for ingestion issues, or Index Statistics for search/index behavior.
4. Capture the full relevant page using a screenshot or the browser's Print > Save as PDF option. Make sure the page title and any displayed time or date are visible. If the page is long, capture each relevant section.
5. If the issue is intermittent or the statistics are current/live, capture the page while the issue is occurring when possible. Note if the values were collected after the issue ended or after a service restart.
6. Use clear filenames that include the case number, statistics page, and capture time, for example Case12345_CommandBlockage_2026-09-30_1430UTC.pdf.
7. Upload the captures and requested log files only through the secure collection method provided for the support case.
Do not include passwords, tokens, private keys, or unrelated personal information. Statistics may include user handles, session identifiers, or command details; treat the captures as sensitive operational data and redact only when allowed by your support process, since redaction can remove useful diagnostic evidence.
Enable Logging
1. Open Admin Home > Site Management > Repository Log Files.
2. Enable the site access or error logs needed for your monitoring process.
3. Use Services and Components > Logging to review service-specific logging levels.
4. Monitor log size and retention so logging does not exhaust disk space.
Avoid increasing verbose logging for long periods unless Support requests it. Capture the log files covering the failure time before rotating or clearing logs.
Prepare Information for Support
Record the DocuShare version and patch level, the affected URL or object handle, the time and time zone of the event, the statistics page viewed, and any relevant error text. Include the statistics captures with the logs and system information requested by Support. For instructions on gathering the logs and config directories and server system information, see Gather Information for Xerox DocuShare Technical Support. Provide files only through the secure transfer method approved for your support case.
