A DocuShare license seat limit was exceeded message displayed when trying to apply a new license key
Issue
When a customer attempts to apply a new license key the following error is displayed.
A DocuShare license seat limit was exceeded
Note: This can occur with a new DocuShare install.
Reason/ Possible Cause
This error can occur depending on the settings chosen during installation.
Example:
During Installation you would have been prompted to select the following:
· Select who can create new user accounts on your site. Choices provided Guest, Registered User, and Administrator
· Select who can create new group accounts on your site. Choices provided Registered User and Administrator.
· Select the default user level assigned to new user accounts. Choices provided Read-Only User, DocuShare User and CPX User.
If the Default User setting is Read Only or CPX User. The License was created for only (regular) DocuShare Users it will cause the error.
Example:
11 DocuShare Users including the administrator account and 10 Guests
Solution
1. Verify how many users the license you are trying to apply includes and what type of users. (Read Only, DocuShare Users, an/or CPX)
2. Verify the Default User Setting.
a. Log in as DocuShare admin.
b. Click Admin Home | Object Properties | User. The User – Property Values page displays.
c. Under Label Column find User Level, check the value listed under Default.
d. If value is not already set to DocuShare, set to DocuShare by doing the following:
e. Click the Edit button next to User Level. The Edit User Menu Property page displays.
f. In the Default Value drop down menu select dsFull : Docushare.
g. Then click the Update button.
