Note: You must be a Windows Administrator to perform this solution.
Issue
The content.exe does not load. Errors may be displayed in the Windows Event log; however, the error message itself can vary.
If you open Task Manager on the DocuShare Server when DocuShare loads you will see autonomyfilesystemfetch load then disappear shortly after.
Reason
The content.exe may not be loading because the server has the wrong Visual C++ library files installed.
Solution
1. Remove the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable library via Add and Remove Programs.
2. Remove the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable library via Add and Remove Programs.
3. Verify that there are no remaining installed Visual C++ libraries listed in Add and Remove Programs. This includes updates or later versions.
4. Reboot the Server.
5. Install the two Visual C++ library files that DocuShare requires.
Example:
vcredist_x86_2005.exe and vcredist_x86_2008.exe
OR
vcredist_x64_2005.exe and vcredist_x64_2008.exe
Note: The Visual C++ library files required are included with the DocuShare Server Installation files. They can be found in the vcredist_x86 or vcredist_x64 directory. Choose the Visual C++ library files that suite your installation environment.
Note: The DocuShare Installation files can be downloaded from the following site if you no longer have a copy. https://docushare.xerox.com/doug/dsweb/View/Collection-1365
