Error: A communication failure occurred while attempting to obtain an initial context with the provider URL

Note: This applies to DocuShare 6.5.2 installations that connect to Records Manager ONLY

Issue:

DocuShare with the Records Manager connector running on Linux 64-bit does not connect to IBM Records Manager.

The following appears in the Xerox\Docushare\logs\rm.log file:


"ERROR com.xerox.docushare.recordsmgmt - DSRMEServerSpiIbmEjbImpl.setLoginManager: NamingException - reason: A communication failure occurred while attempting to obtain an initial context with the provider URL: . . . ."

Solution:

DocuShare with Records Manager on Linux 64-bit is incompatible with IBM Records Manager. There is no patch or work-around for this. This is also noted in the Release Notes for DocuShare 6.5.2.
