The Retain login for future checkbox that is located on the home page of a DocuShare site allows you to select if you want to remain logged into DocuShare after you close and reopen your browser.
FAQs about “Retain login for future†option:
· How long is the login password retained in cookie and the function is effective?
The login password is retained for five years from login. This value is not configurable. To check the expiration date, review the Cookies stored in browser they should display the actual expiration date.
· If using an external user (LDAP user), is login process skipped until the expiration date?
As long as the cookie is there a user can access DocuShare regardless whether the LDAP password has been modified. Enabling the LDAP listener feature on DocuShare does not change the outcome
Note: There is access from DocuShare to LDAP but for other purposes.
Warning: Cookies can be a security issue that customers should consider and Cookie should not be stored when users access DocuShare from public PC.
Note: The DocuShare admin can disable the retain login for future option.
To disable the retain login for future option:
1. Log in as admin and select Admin Home | Site Management | Account Policies. The Account Policies page displays.
2. Under Automatic Logout Policy section select Log out user when browser is closed or Log out user after specified minutes of inactivity.
3. Click the Apply button.
Note: This will automatically change the enable_persistent_login option in \config\amber.properties from 1 to 0.
4. If you return to the home page and log out the Retain Login for Future option should no longer be displayed.
Note: You should also clear the cache in your browser. This will remove any existing cookies.
