For Windows Servers:
NOTE: Windows 2003 servers have enhanced security; therefore, if you are planning on configuring your DocuShare server to go to a Windows 2003 Remote server you will need to run DocuShare from the command prompt instead of via services. DocuShare support is unable to gaurentee that DocuShare will be able to connect to your remote server if security on your network or on your server is blocking DocuShare from connecting.
Windows 2000 servers:
- Open Windows Service Manager from the Computer Management console.
- Right-click on DocuShare 3 or 4 Service, then select Properties.
- Click on the Log On tab. The Log on page appears.
- Change the Log on as option from a Local Account to a Domain account that has access to the DocuShare 3 or 4 Server and the Remote Server.
- Stop and restart the DocuShare 3 or 4 Service to make sure it restarts correctly. You may want to reboot the server, as well, to make sure automatic restart works.
- When the DocuShare 3 or 4 Server restarts you will need to copy the existing \Documents Directory to the new remote location (including any /all sub-folders and files).
- Give Change / Modify permissions for this Domain Account on the Remote Drive mapping (cascade permission to any folders under the ..\documents directory). This account will also need the required NTFS permissions on the DocuShare Server directory structure if it does not grant access to the Everyone Group.
- Modify the DocuShare 3 or 4 Document Repository Path to the mapped drive letter.
To Modify the Document Repository path :
- Login to DocuShare as the Site Administrator.
- Expand Site Management by clicking the plus [+]
- Click Directory Paths under the site Management. The Directory path page appears.
- Change the Document Repository to the mapped drive.
- Click Apply at the bottom of the page.
