Note: This applies to DocuShare 6.5.x
Note: In IDOL the SOUNDEX operator is not enabled by default.
Note: You must be a Windows Administrator to perform this solution.
To enable the SOUNDEX operator:
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Browse to the \IDOLServer\IDOL
Where is the installation directory for DocuShare. Depending on your installation environment this path may vary. The default path during installation is Xerox\DocuShare.
3. Make a copy of the AutonomyIDOLServer.cfg file and rename it AutonomyIDOLServer.cfg.orig
4. Open the AutonomyIDOLServer.cfg file in a text editor such as Notepad.
5. Search for the [Server] entry in the file.
6. Add the Soundex=1 entry on the line below the [Server] entry.
Example:
[Server]
Soundex=1
7. Save the file.
8. Open a command prompt window.
9. Change into the \bin directory.
Note: Step 10 can be performed at a later time if necessary, as performance might be degraded if the dsindex_all is ran during production hours. The completion time for an index to run depends on your environment and the amount of data in DocuShare.
10. Type dsindex index_all and press Enter.
To search with SOUNDEX:
In the DocuShare web interface use the Simple search field to type in the soundex (term) search criteria.
Example:
SOUNDEX\\(einstine\\)
Note: Use a double backslash to escape the paren
Example:
Albert SOUNDEX\\(einstine\\)
Note: Used in the phrase.
