Warning: When using the copy, cut and paste to change the location of an existing DocuShare object the permissions previously assigned to the object will follow it wherever it is pasted.
Note: Only new objects added to DocuShare inherit the permissions of the Parent Collection.
Note: The CUT and/or COPY function is actually an Edit location of the same object. It does not create a new unique COPY of the object. Therefore if you use Copy / paste to create a copy of the same object in a secondary location and delete the object from the original location, that action will delete the object from all locations since it’s the same object that appears in multiple locations.
Note: For a detailed explanation of how deleting collections that contain pasted objects works click the solution link listed at the bottom of this page.
Known Limitation: The clipboard can only contain a maximum of 100 objects. Therefore, if more than 100 objects are displayed in DocuShare and a user tries to copy or cut them, only the first 100 objects that you have selected will be pasted.
To copy or cut objects:
1. Locate the object that you want to copy or cut.
2. Click the checkbox next to the object.
3. From the Edit Selected menu, select either Copy or Cut. A confirm window appears.
4. Choose whether or not to remove any objects from the clipboard before the copy or cut.
5. Click Confirm.
Note: When using the Cut command, the object title is faint until you Paste it to another container.
6. Open the container in which you want to paste the object.
Note: To paste a workspace, open the workspace in which you want to paste the object and then click Content Map. (DocuShare CPX only)
7. From the Edit Selected menu, select Paste. A confirm window appears.
8. Choose whether or not to remove any objects from the clipboard after the paste.
9. Click Confirm. The object appears in the container.
Example:
· Collection A (Permissions: User-2 and User-10 and contains Document-10
· Collection B (Permissions: User-2 and User-20
a. Copy or Cut Document-10 from Collection A
b. Paste Document-10 into Collection B
c. Inside Collection B you will notice that the Document object retains its handle (Document-10) as well as all other attributes and Metadata including Permissions. Document-10 will show permissions to it as it was originally (User-2 and User-10). User-20 will not have Access Rights to Document-10.
