NOTE: The default FTP port for the Scan Direct to DocuShare feature uses port 21. Accounts that have Scanners that allow other Filing Destination port numbers can change the DocuShare FTP Service to use a non-standard port number. This could be used if DocuShare was installed as a non-root user for Solaris or Linux servers (FTP ports below 1023 require root privileges).
To modify the default FTP port number for the ScanDirect to DocuShare feature:
To modify the default FTP port number for the ScanDirect to DocuShare feature:
- Stop the DocuShare 3.1 Service.
- Modify the \config\ftpd.conf file to use a free port higher than 1023 (1024 -4999 Not recommended).
Example of a modified ftpd.conf file:
## Ftp server host name.
## The default host is the localhost
## FtpServer.server.config.host=localhost
## Ftp server port number.
## Default FTP port is 21.
FtpServer.server.config.port=5921
- Start the DocuShare 3.1 Service.
- When the DocuShare FTP Service uses the new port number, you need to modify your Scanner's Filing Destination settings to use the new port number (the same port being used in the ftpd.conf file). Some Xerox Document Centre / WorkCentre models do not allow Filing Destination ports to be modified. Please refer to your Scanner Documentation to modify the Filing Destination port number. Non-standard ports are not supported by all models.
