Set a Default Value for Required Properties of the User Obje

NOTE: When attempting to add new users from an external domain (LDAP) you get the following error message, 'Sorry. Your request could not be processed.

This message will be displayed if your DocuShare site has a User Object property that is required and the DocuShare LDAP configuration does not bind the User Object property to a LDAP attribute that contains a value for every user in the LDAP directory.

You must establish a default value to be used when the LDAP attribute does not contain a value.
  1. Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, and enter the URL address for the DocuShare server.
  2. Log into DocuShare with site Administrator privileges.
  3. Click on the [Admin Home] link. The Admin Home site will be displaysed.
  4. In the Admin Home area, click on [Object Properties], then select [User]. The User Property Values window will be displayed.
  5. Click on [Edit] for the User property configured to be a required property. The Edit Property window will be displayed.
  6. Click on the Default Value text box and enter in the desired default value for this property.
  7. Click [Update] at the bottom of the window. The User Property Values window will be displayed.
  8. Navigate the Administration menu to Object Properties and click [Update Properties]. The Update Properties window will be displayed.
  9. Review the property changes listed on the page. If the property changes are correct, click on[Submit] at the bottom of the page.

    NOTE: If you are using DocuShare 3.1, set the Re-Index When option to [Immediately after property updates] before you click [Submit].
