The following Stack Trace Error is displayed.
VDF Error: No Such variable
Variable: chararcters
Error is displayed when a DocuShare admin tries to click on the Change Password Button to try to change a User’s Password.
The error is caused by a typo in the file ChangePasswordInternal.vdf file.
NOTE: This error applies to the DocuShare 6.0 Installs Only. The fix will be implemented in DocuShare 6.0.2. The DocuShare 6.0.1 Installer no longer has this issue. However, if you installed 6.0 you will need to wait for 6.0.2 to fix the issue or manually edit ChangePasswordInternal.vdf file.
Manual Fix Instructions (if needed)
NOTE: You must be an admin to perform this solution.
From the DocuShare Server,
- Right-click [Start] button and select [Explore]. A new window will be displayed.
- Create a directory called local in the Xerox\DocuShare\amber\templates\ directory.
- Once you have created the new local directory, navigate the directory structure into the Xerox\Docushare\amber\templates\system directory.
- Make a copy of the ChangePasswordInternal.vdf file
- Paste the copy of the ChangePasswordInternal.vdf file into the Xerox\Docushare\amber\templates\\local directory you created in Step 2.
- Open the copy of the Xerox\Docushare\amber\templates\\local\ChangePasswordInternal.vdf file in NotePad or WordPad.
- Click on the [Edit] menu item and select [Find]. The Find window will be displayed.
- In the Find what: field type the chararcter (there is an extra r in the word).
- It will find one instance of the word character. Change the spelling of the word to character (proper spelling).
- Click on the [File] menu item and select [Save].
- Try to access the Change Password button again in the DocuShare webpage.
NOTE: A restart of DocuShare should not be needed for the changes to take affect.
