Unable to open UNC URLs in DocuShare 6.0.1

Note: This applies to DocuShare 6.0.1 with Update 3 on a XP SP3 environment using Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 7 browser.

Issue

When trying to click on a URL via the Web UI, which has a UNC path as its value, it does not perform any operation. However, the same URL works fine while trying to access via DocuShare Windows Client.

Solution

1. Open the DocuShare Web UI with Internet Explorer.
2. Select the Tools | Internet Options.
3. Select the Security tab.
4. I the Select a zone to view or change security settings box select Trusted sites and then click the Sites button. The Trusted Sites window displays.
5. In the Add this website to the zone field type the DocuShare URL and then click the Add button.

Note: You will not be able to add a DocuShare site running on a http protocol unless you have cleared the checkbox labeled Require Server Verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.

6. Click the Close button.
7. Restart Internet Explorer and then try to access the UNC URL that had the issue.
