The requested classname is invalid

Note: This solution applies to DocuShare 6.x and above that are customized and using QuickSearch.

Issue

The Quick Search Homepage displays the following error when trying to add a custom object.

The requested classname is invalid. Please see the administrator about creating this custom class:

Reason / Possible Cause

Error occurs because a null "Class name" was added to the FCRUI.xml file located in the \config folder.

Workaround

1. Backup the \FCRUI.xml file.
2. Open the FCRUI.xml file in a text editor.
3. Manually remove the null class names that look like the following example.

4. Save the file.
5. Try adding the class name again.

Note: This issue may occur again in the future when attempting to add new custom classes. If you wish to have custom classes on the quick search page, then you must add the classes first then follow steps 1-5 again to remove the null class name tags.
