Note: This solution applies to Windows 2000 and XP only. There is a separate solution for Windows Vista (see related solution at the bottom of this page)
DocuShare offers desktop integration with WebDAV standards, which allows any desktop computer connect to any DocuShare site.
How To Connect to DocuShare with WebDAV in Windows 2000
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Click the Tools menu and select Map Network Drive (or add a Web Folder). The Map Network Drive window displays.
3. Click the Create a shortcut to a Web folder or FTP site link. The Add Network Place Wizard displays.
4. In the Type the location of the Network Place: field enter the address with the Webdav extension (lower case) Example: http://IPAddress/docushare/webdav
a. Note: You do not need the /dsweb/HomePage part of the URL.
5. Click the Next button. The Enter Network Password window displays.
6. Enter a valid DocuShare username and password in the corresponding fields, then click the OK button.
7. In the Enter a name for this Network Place: enter a name you would like to use to identify the webdav mapping.
8. Click the Finish Button.
9. Click on the webdav mapping that shows up.
Note: You will be prompted for a Username and Password. Enter a valid DocuShare username and password in the appropriate fields and then click the OK button.
Note: To Access DocuShare, open Explorer and navigate to “My Network Places†and select the directory you just created; or Open an ODMA compliant application (like Word) and “Save As†then navigate to “My Network Placesâ€.
How To Connect to DocuShare with WebDAV in Windows XP
1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Click the Tools menu and select Map Network Drive (or add a Web Folder). The Map Network Drive window displays.
3. Select Sign up for online storage or connect to a network server link. The Add Network Place Wizard displays.
4. Click the Next button.
5. Click Choose another network location, then click the Next button.
6. In the Internet or network address: field enter the address with the Webdav extension (lower case) Example: http://IPAddress/docushare/webdav
Note: You do not need the /dsweb/HomePage part of the URL.
7. Click the Next button. The Enter Network Password window displays.
8. Type the a valid User name and password in the appropriate fields and then click the OK button.
9. In the Type a name for the network place: field enter the name you would like to see appear in your Network Neighborhood directory that will represent your DocuShare site.
10. Click the Finish button. Another login prompt will be displayed, enter the a valid DocuShare username and password in the appropriate fields.
11. To access the new webdav connection to DocuShare, Open My Network Places and you should see a webDAV link to DocuShare displayed.
