Note: This applies to DocuShare 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, 6.5.x, 6.6.x, 7.x.
Note: You must be an administrator to perform this solution.
Note: This solution requires that you stop DocuShare.
Prerequisites:
• Download the DocuShare update, patch or hotfix.
• Backup DocuShare. For detailed instructions on How To Backup DocuShare click the related link located at the bottom of this page.
Note:The backup of the database files and the documents directory must be done at the same time so that the information contained is in sync, otherwise there will be inconsistencies between the documents and the database information. To prevent inconsistencies between the documents and the database, you will need to stop DocuShare or place DocuShare in Read Only mode so that no new data is written during the backup period.
• Before you install software updates or patches, make sure the selected update is compatible with your version of DocuShare. Go to About DocuShare, on your site home page or in the Administration Menu, to locate your version number.
• If documentation is supplied with an update, read the documentation before starting the installation.
To Install a software update, patch or hotfix:
1. Log into the DocuShare server as a Windows Administrator.
2. Stop DocuShare.
3. Extract the DocuShare update, patch or hotfix to a local directory on the server.
4. Once extracted, right-click the dsUpdate.exe and select Run as Administrator. Be patient; it takes a few minutes to load and start the installer.
5. Once the install wizard begins, follow the onscreen instructions. Click Next to proceed or click Back to return to a previous screen.
6. When asked to select an update, check the appropriate update and click Next.
Note: If the update is not displayed, browse to the location of the corresponding update jar file, and then click Add Update and check the appropriate update.
7. When the installation successfully completes, click Finish to close the installer.
8. Start DocuShare
9. Go to About DocuShare, on your site home page or in the Administration Menu, to locate your version number the update or patch installed should now also be listed.
Note: DocuShare should be restarted after the installation of each Update or Patch to ensure that it was successful. Do NOT install multiple updates/Patches in succession without starting DocuShare between each one.
