Overview
Some Android users may see a fingerprint prompt followed by two sign-in screens when opening the DocuShare mobile app. This behavior can occur when the app checks whether the DocuShare site uses SAML single sign-on before presenting the standard username and password screen.
For sites that use standard DocuShare credentials instead of SAML, this sequence is expected behavior. The second sign-in screen is the screen where the user completes authentication.
Applies To
| Component | Applies | Notes |
| DocuShare Android app | Yes | This article applies to Android mobile sign-in behavior. |
| Sites using SAML single sign-on | Sometimes | The app checks for SAML before choosing which sign-in experience to display. |
| Sites using standard DocuShare credentials | Yes | Users may see an initial sign-in check screen before the credential screen appears. |
| Biometric unlock enabled | Common trigger | Users may notice the sequence more clearly when fingerprint unlock is enabled on the device. |
Symptoms
- A fingerprint or biometric prompt appears first.
- An initial sign-in screen opens after biometric approval.
- A second sign-in screen then appears asking for the DocuShare username and password.
- The app is still able to complete sign-in after the credentials are entered on the second screen.
Why This Happens
The Android app first determines whether the connected DocuShare site is configured for SAML single sign-on. If the site is not using SAML, the app then transitions to the standard credential sign-in screen.
Because those are two different sign-in paths, users on non-SAML sites can see two screens in sequence. This is a product behavior difference between SAML-based sign-in and standard username/password sign-in, not a login failure by itself.
NOTE: If your DocuShare site uses standard credentials, the second screen is the expected screen for entering the username and password.
What Users Should Do
- Open the DocuShare Android app. If biometric unlock is enabled on the device, approve the fingerprint or biometric prompt first.
- Wait for the sign-in flow to complete its initial check. The first screen may appear briefly while the app determines whether the site uses SAML sign-in.
- Enter your DocuShare username and password on the second sign-in screen. For non-SAML sites, this is the screen that completes sign-in.
- Continue into the app after authentication succeeds. No additional troubleshooting is required if sign-in completes normally after the second screen.
When to Contact Your Administrator or Support
- The app loops repeatedly between sign-in screens and never reaches the app home screen.
- Your organization expects SAML single sign-on, but the app still asks for a username and password.
- The site URL configured in the app may be incorrect or outdated.
- The second sign-in screen rejects valid credentials or fails unexpectedly.
Additional Guidance
If your organization wants a simpler single-screen mobile sign-in experience for non-SAML environments, that would require a product enhancement rather than a support fix.
If you are unsure whether your site uses SAML single sign-on or standard DocuShare credentials, confirm the expected sign-in method with your DocuShare administrator.
