Note: This applies to DS Drive used with Word and Excel 2010 and 2013.
Issue
Changes are not saved unless the application is closed even though Save option has been selected in Word and Excel and Silent Check In is enabled in DocuShare Drive.
Reason / Possible Cause
When silent check-in is enabled on DocuShare Drive and the Defer the check in silently is option is also enabled, often the save will not happen until the application is closed. If there is a system failure or issue with the application before it is closed the changes to the document may be lost.
Solution
Disable the Defer check in silently. Each File Save adds a version option in the DocuShare Drive preferences
To change the DocuShare Drive preferences:
1. Right-click on the DocuShare Drive icon in the system tray on the desktop.
2. Select View preferences, the DocuShare Drive Properties window will display.
3. Select Online Files tab.
4. In the File check-in control section, select Prompt me for check-in when I save a file I have checked out explicitly.
5. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Defer the check in silently. Each File Save adds a version.
6. Select Don’t prompt. Always check in silently. Each File Save adds a version.
7. Click the OK button.
