Note: This solution applies to DocuShare 6.0.1, 6.5.x, 6.6.x and 7.
Note: DocuShare support is unable to guarantee that DocuShare will be able to connect to your remote server if security on your network or on your server is blocking DocuShare from connecting.
Solution
Note: You must be the DocuShare Administrator to perform this solution.
Note: This solution applies to Windows Servers ONLY.
To change the Document Repository directory path:
1. Login to DocuShare as admin.
2. Click the Admin Home ink.
3. From the Administration Menu, click Site Management | Site Operations link. The Site Operations page displays.
4. From the System Mode menu select Read Only mode then click the Apply button.
5. Copy the contents of the existing \documents directory to the new directory location.
Where is replaced with the installation path for DocuShare. The default installation path is C:\Xerox\Docushare. Depending on your installation environment the path may vary.
Warning: Do not overwrite the \documents\guid.txt file on DocuShare 6.6.x sites when restoring the documents directory.
6. From the Administration Menu, click Site Management | Directory Paths link. The Directory Paths page displays.
7. Enter the pathname to the new documents directory in the Document Repository directory field. The path must be a UNC path such as\\servername\path_to_documents_directory or to a local hard drive. (Example D:\documents)
Note: If you are placing your documents directory for DocuShare on a Windows 2003 or 2008 server and connecting to it then you will need to use the UNC path not a mapped drive. Pointing to a mapped drive letter does not work.
Note: If you want to return to the previous pathname settings, click Reset.
8. Click Apply.
Note: If the path is incorrectly specified then a 700: Unspecified content problem error will be displayed and the request will not be processed.
9. Once the new path has been applied successfully, Click Site Management | Site Operations and return the DocuShare server to Read Write mode.
Note: If DocuShare is installed on a Windows 2000 Server and you will be pointing the Document Repository directory path to a Windows 2003 or 2008 Server then you may need to run DocuShare from the command prompt (start_docushare) instead of via Services. This is due to the enhanced security on Server 2003 and 2008.
