Note: This applies to DocuShare 6.5.x, 6.6.x, 7.0. It also applies to upgraded 7.5 and 7.6 sites with IDOL.
Syntax: idoltool {}
Use the idoltool command to configure and manage the IDOL search and index servers.
Using idoltool
Idoltool runs differently than most of the other DocuShare command lines.
- As with the other commands, use the command prompt window to navigate to the DocuShare /bin directory.
- At the prompt, type idoltool, (an optional Idol directory), and Enter. The system starts idoltool. When idoltool is ready, a prompt appears.
- At the prompt, enter a command and , and Enter.
Basic Idol directories
include DiSH, FileSystem Fetch, and IDOL. The system runs the command, and returns information based on the outcome of the command and selected parameters.
Commands for idoltool
getstatus Display the current status of the specified server. Servers must be running for this command to work.
info Display configuration for all servers.
addinstance Add a IDOL server (content.exe) instance to the system when the existing IDOL server instance has reached its limit (estimated 10 to 12 million objects).
To add an instance; stop DocuShare; stop servers; run idoltool; run addinstance; restart servers, restart DocuShare.
Warning: The use of more than one content requires the purchase of the High Scalability Kit license option. Running this command without the High Scalability Kit license will cause DocuShare to stop working.
initdb Reset the index database content. Servers must be running for this command to work.
Warning: This command also asks the question “Do you want to initialize the database first?†If you answer yes to the question it will clear all the indices in the database; therefore, requiring a dsindex index_all be run to recreate them.
export
Export the index database content into compressed files within the specified directory. Servers must be running for this command to work. The path should not contain spaces.
Security Warning: The IDOL Index Database is not an encrypted file. Use care when exporting this file to a non-secure location; contents are in plain-text and can be easily read
import
Import the compressed files from the specified directory. Servers must be running for this command to work.
resizeindexcache Set the index cache memory to a specified size. Server must be running for this command to work. No server restart needed.
setcontentdir Set the content components directory to the specified root directory. Valid only for Idol and ContentX servers. Servers must be stopped for this command to work.
Warning: The ability to run IDOL off the box is only available with the purchase of a High Scalability Kit License.
resetserver Remove files from the specified servers. Servers must be stopped for this command to work.
resetlicense Reset the Dish server and the license data for the Idol and content servers. Servers must be stopped for this command to work.
setinstalldir Set the current IDOLInstallDir into the uninitialized cfg files for all servers. Servers must be stopped for this command to work.
stop Stop the specified server. Servers must be running for this command to work
