DocuShare PDF Conversion
The DocuShare PDF conversion feature uses the OpenOffice PDF converter. When DocuShare is installed on a headless Solaris/Linux system, the converter requires the DISPLAY env variable to be set to a valid display. If the DISPLAY environment variable is not set or the display to which DocuShare is pointed is closed, PDF conversion will stop working. When a DocuShare user selects the View in PDF command for a document, a "No rendition" message displays.
On a headless UNIX system, you will need to configure a virtual display device and point your DISPLAY env variable to it. Refer to your OS manual on how to do this.
DocuShare HTML Conversion
Linux systems are often run without any graphic card since you use only the command line interface. On a headless UNIX system to convert a document to html it requires the glibc library and the DISPLAY environment variable to be set to an X windows system (because we require vector graphics).
Post installation set your UNIX virtual display buffer to operate within an X Windows system DocuShare operates in an X Windows environment; set the display buffer to use all of the DocuShare features. In a headless system, an error occurs if the display buffer is not correctly set.
