Issue
The DocuShare \tmp directory contains a large number of amber temp files.
For example: C:\Xerox\Docushare\tmp\ Amber5175686540079772344.tmp
Reason /Possible Cause
DocuShare 6.5.3 Patch 5 will clean up the standard Amber####.tmp files that are created when uploading files through the Web UI providing the upload completes without error. Unfortunately, DocuShare 6.5.3 Patch 5 will leave the Amber####.tmp files in the DSHOME\tmp folder if the file upload is cancelled or crashes before it's completed.
This issue can be easily replicated in DocuShare 6.5.3 Patch 5 by uploading a large file through the Web UI while watching the DSHome\tmp folder. Once the Amber####.tmp file is created, simply cancel the file upload by going back to the View Collection Page. You will notice the Amber####.tmp file is left in the DSHOME\tmp folder even if you restart DocuShare. This no longer happens in DocuShare 6.6.1. Cancelled or failed uploads are automatically removed from the DSHOME\tmp folder when DocuShare is restarted.
There were also other issues found in DocuShare 6.5.3 Patch 5 related to uploading multipart\mixed files using the DocuShare API's where it would not properly clean up the Amber####.tmp file. This is also fixed in DocuShare 6.6.1.
Solution
Upgrade to DocuShare 6.6.1. DocuShare 6.6.1 will automatically clear the DSHOME\tmp folder upon restart and it also includes DocuShare API fixes to properly clean up the Amber####.tmp files from the DSHOME\tmp folder when uploading multipart\mixed files.
Note: In the meantime, until an upgrade can be scheduled, it is ok to move or delete the oldest dated "amber######.tmp" files to ensure that the server's hard drive does not become filled to capacity. This is only a temporary fix until an upgrade can be scheduled.
