Note: This applies to Windows Server 2008 SP2, 2008 Server R2, and Server 2012 R2 running Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.x , 8.x and 8.5.
Issue
When trying to upload files to DocuShare the following errors may be displayed.
· The DocuShare Windows client displays an exception pop up window with the following error.
Data Transfer Error 63 – Network connection broken
· The Web UI displays the following error message.
HTTP 404 error The resource you are looking for might have been removed
Reason / Possible Cause
This is due to an Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.x file size limitation. IIS 7.x has a maxAllowedContentLength attribute where the default value is 30000000 which is approximately 28.6 MB. The error is displayed when trying to upload a file larger than 28.6 MB from the DocuShare Client.
Solution
Edit the request filtering feature settings and the request limits.
To edit the request filtering feature settings and request limits:
1. Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
2. In the Connections pane, click the [+] sign next to your Server to expand the option.
3. Click the [+] sign next to Sites to expand the option.
4. Highlight the Default Web Site.
Note: If the site running DocuShare is not the Default Web Site then highlight the appropriate site for your installation environment.
5. In the Default Web Site Home pane, double-click the Request Filtering icon. The Request Filtering pane displays.
6. From the Actions pane on the right hand side of the screen click Edit Feature Settings... link. The Edit Request Filtering Settings window displays.
7. In the Request Limits section, enter the appropriate Maximum allowed content length (Bytes) and then click the OK button.
Note: The maximum value you can set the request Filtering limit to is 4294967295 which is the equivalent of 3.99 GB in IIS. Please refer to the Microsoft website at _http://www.microsoft.com to obtain the most current information.
8. Restart IIS.
