Note: Please read ALL Prerequisite information and the entire solution before proceeding with your upgrade to verify that you do not have any questions. If you require clarification on any of the upgrade steps below, contact the DocuShare Technical Support Hotline at 1-888-835-9013.
Prerequisites:
· Valid support agreement for DocuShare 6.6.1.
· Contact DocuShare Technical Support Desk at 1-800-835-9013 to have your user added to the Legacy Installation Files Access Group on the https://docushare.xerox.com/doug site.
Note: If you do not have a user account on the https://docushare.xerox.com/doug site then you will need to create one before contacting DocuShare Technical Support Desk.
· The new DocuShare Server MUST meet the DocuShare 6.6.1 System Requirements. The System Requirements can be found here:
Warning: DocuShare 6.6.1 requires a 64 bit Operating System. To move to 64 bit JVMs the upgraded DocuShare site will need to be moved to a 64 bit server during the upgrade path outlined below. (Step 6 of the upgrade path, requires moving to a new 64 bit Operating System). This will allow the new installer run 64 bit JVMs.
Upgrade Instructions:
1. Verify that you are running DocuShare 3.01.00 Update 2 or higher.
To verify the version of DocuShare:
a. click About DocuShare on the Home page.
b. Server MUST be running 3.01.00 Update 2 or higher.
Note: Update 2 is included in Maintenance Update build 909 available for download at https://docushare.xerox.com/doug/dsweb/View/Collection-4467.

Note: If you are running a version of DocuShare that is lower than 3.01.00 then contact the DocuShare Technical Support Hotline at 1-800-835-9013 for instructions on the proper upgrade path for your installation.
2. Download DocuShare 5.00.03 and DocuShare 6.6.1

Upgrade using DocuShare 5.00.00:

DocuShare 5 supports upgrades from 3.1 or 4.x only.
Read Upgrade Notes for 5.0 before upgrading for important information
Then install 5.00.02 Maintenance Update:
Do not use the 5.0.2 Full Installer to upgrade from a previous version on Solaris or Linux platforms. A database upgrade error may occur. Recommended upgrade path is upgrade to 5.0.0 first, then apply the DocuShare 5.0.2 Update
Then install 5.03 Maintenance Update:
Upgrades a 5.00.02 Server to 5.00.03. Includes JDK update for new DST calendar in North America.

3. Backup DocuShare 3.01.00 Sever.
a. Stop DocuShare and the Database Engine
b. Backup the Xerox\Docushare\documents directory.
Note: The location of the documents directory may vary depending on your installation environment. The location of the documents directory in your environment can be found in Admin Home | Site Management | Directory Paths | Document Repository.
c. DocuShare database files
Note: The default DocuShare database files in SQL or MSDE are called docushare.mdf and docushare_log.ldf.
Note: Verify backup file sizes for both the documents directory and database files to ensure that your backup file sizes match the original size.
d. Restart the Database only.
Note: For detailed information click the How To Backup DocuShare link listed at the bottom of the page.
4. Upgrade to DocuShare 5.00.03
To upgrade to DocuShare 5.00.03:
a. Stop DocuShare (if not already stopped).
Note: The database must be running for the DocuShare Installer to upgrade the database schema.
Warning: When using MSDE, the database size limit is 2 GB. During an upgrade, the Database size can double before going back to its original size. If it exceeds the 2 GB limit, the upgrade will fail. It may be necessary to move to full version SQL Server.
b. Exit all Windows applications before starting the DocuShare Installer Setup.
CAUTION: The DocuShare Installer will shut down the IIS service during the upgrade and restart at its completion. If IIS service is not restarted by the DocuShare Installer, enter in a command window: net start w3svc.
c. Launch the installer by selecting docushare.exe or entering in the Run window.
Optional for DocuShare upgrade:
use the command line -P docushareLog.cleanUp=false to preserve configuration and upgrade data at the completion of the DocuShare upgrade.
To use this utility, start the upgrade in a Command window:
docushare.exe -P docushareLog.cleanUp=false
