Here is some background on why and how the Artificial Intelligence (AI) works in term of how many pages are consumed:
Content Assistant usage is calculated by the normalized page. 1 normalized page is roughly equivalent to a standard page of English text containing 400-500 words.
AI must break the content down by meaning and therefore a word can be "a" or "apple". Dense content (for example lots of numbers) can have lots of meaning and therefore higher than expected normalized page consumption.
Average normalized expected page consumption per page in Office Documents
| ||
| Format | Estimated Normalized Page Consumption per Document Page | Notes |
| PowerPoint slide | 0.5 | Very sparse documents, simple invoices, etc |
| Word (double-spaced) | 1 - 1.5 | Used in standard office documents, user guides, manuals, policies, academic writing, resumes, multi-page invoices, etc. |
| Word (single-spaced) | 1.5 – 2.5 | More dense, typical for reports, legal contracts, legal correspondence, sows etc. |
| Dense text (PDF, Excel) | 3 - 4+ | Tables, spreadsheets, or technical docs |
