DocuShare is announcing the end-of-life for the Legacy COM-Based DocuShare Office Integration, effective March 11, 2026.
Who is Affected
This change applies only to the legacy, desktop-based Microsoft Office integration and does not affect DocuShare's ability to work with Microsoft Office file formats (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx).
What This Means for You
- End-of-Life for the DocuShare legacy Office Integration is effective March 11, 2026.
- As of this date, support services, maintenance builds, software fixes, and upgrades are no longer available.
- Xerox can no longer provide technical support for this integration after March 11, 2026.
Why We Made This Decision
The DocuShare Office Integration was built on older Microsoft Office COM-based extension technologies that are no longer actively developed or supported by Microsoft. As modern versions of Microsoft Office and Windows have moved away from these underlying technologies, maintaining a reliable, secure, and compatible integration has become increasingly difficult. This decision allows us to focus our development resources on delivering a superior, modern content management experience.
Recommended Alternative: OnlyOffice
This modern integration reflects how DocuShare is moving towards browser-based editing and collaboration aligned with today's work environments. We are pleased to announce that OnlyOffice is now available as a modern alternative for document editing and collaboration directly within DocuShare. OnlyOffice provides a full-featured, browser-based office suite that enables customers to create, edit, and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations without requiring a locally installed Office client.
