Characters Are Not Displaying Correctly when Localizing the messages_xx.properties Files

To localize the messages_xx.properties file you MUST use the Java Unicode value (ie. \unn) for characters that cannot be represented in ASCII. The properties file uses the Unicode for non ASCII chars.

Note: The messages_xx.properties file must be saved as ASCII encoded.
