How To Edit the Help Link on the Homepage To Point to Another Location

Note: This solution applies to DocuShare 6.5.x ONLY.

Note: Before making any changes, back up the existing files.

To change the help link on the DocuShare Homepage to point to another location:

1. Open Windows Explorer.

2. Change into the /Amber/Templates/System directory.

3. Make a copy of the dslib.vdf file.

Warning: Never edit the original VDF files located in \Xerox\Docushare\amber\templates\system.

4. Paste the dslib.vdf file into the /Amber/Templates/local directory.

Note: If the \Amber\Templates\local directory does not exist, create one.

5. Open dslib.vdf in a text editor.

6. Search for the word help.

The line you find should look like this.

7. Edit the URL between the quotes and after a href.

Note: You can add your own URL in the example below it points to a collection.

Example:

Where is replaced with the IP Address or Hostname of the DocuShare server.

8. Save the changes you made to the file.

9. Refresh your webpage to see the changes displayed in DocuShare.

Note: You may need to stop and start DocuShare to see the changes.
