Customizing DocuShare Pages using VDF files
Note: This applies to all versions of DocuShare.
Prerequisites
· You must be administrator
· Backup the original files before making any changes.
It is best to refer to the DocuShare Reference Guide available on your DocuShare site here:
http://dsserver/docushare/dsweb/helpdesk/Developer
Warning: Never edit the original VDF files located in \Xerox\Docushare\amber\templates\system
Where is replaced with the installation directory for DocuShare. The default installation path is C:\Xerox\Docushare. Depending on your installation environment the path may vary.
1. When customizing VDF files, you should create a folder called local in the following location if one does not already exist. \amber\templates\local
2. Copy VDF files that you would like to customize from the \amber\templates\system location and paste them in the \amber\templates\local folder.
3. Once copied, the files in the local directory can be edited. DocuShare will look in the local folder instead of accessing the original VDF files in the system folder.
Note: The \amber\templates\local directory has precedence in the VDF load order, so that it will override any same named VDF in the \amber\templates\system directory.
