Symptom
When selecting multiple documents or collections and using the Zip and Download feature, the following message is displayed and the download does not proceed:
| Download Size Exceeded — The size of your selected item to download and zip has exceeded the site limit of 100.0 MB. Please select fewer items and try again. |
Cause
DocuShare limits the total size of items that can be combined into a single Zip and Download request. By default, this limit is set to 100 MB. This is a deliberate, by-design safeguard rather than a defect: it protects the server from running out of available memory while compressing and streaming very large sets of files at once.
Resolution
In most cases, this message can be resolved by selecting fewer items so the total download size falls under the site limit, then repeating the Zip and Download action in smaller batches.
If you regularly need to zip and download larger sets of content than the current limit allows, contact Xerox DocuShare Support to discuss whether increasing the maximum download size is an option for your environment.

Increasing it allows larger downloads to be requested, but each Zip and Download request consumes additional server memory and processing resources while it runs. Raising the limit too far can lead to server memory exhaustion and instability for all users if multiple large downloads are requested at the same time. |
