Note: This applies to DocuShare Client 6.5 for Windows 7 (64-bit)
Issue
Unable to check-out document via the Web when using DocuShare Client 6.5 Windows 7 64-bit.
An Error window may be displayed stating the following:
DocuShare Client could not handle the file check-out request because it encountered an error.
Result Code: 0x1
Error Code: -203
If this problem persists, go to the Control Panel, open DocuShare Client Properties, and uncheck the ‘Handle checkout from web browser’ option under Internet Explorer Support.
Reason
There is an issue with the DocuShare Client 6.5 when User Account Control (UAC) is turned off. This will be addressed in a maintenance release of the DocuShare Client.
Workaround
1. Enable User Account Control (UAC )
To enable User Account Control (UAC):
a. Open the Windows Control Panel
b. Select the System and Security.
c. Click Change User Account Control settings.
d. Move the Selection bar to select Default - Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer.
e. Click the OK button.
2. Add The DocuShare Address to the Trusted Sites List in Internet Explorer.
To add the DocuShare address to the Trusted Sites list:
a. Open the DocuShare Home Page in Internet Explorer
b. Select Tools | Internet Options.
c. Select the Security tab and click trusted sites
d. Click the Sites button. The Trusted sites window displays.
e. Add the website to the zone by clicking the Add button.
f. Click the Close button.
