Note: This applies to the DocuShare Client for Windows, Terminal Server (WTS) and also the DocuShare Client Administrative Installation.
The local administrator account must be used to install the DocuShare Windows Client. Members of a local admin group may not have all the necessary permissions to properly install the DocuShare Windows Client.
The DocuShare Client installation involves copying and configuring system shell extension and service libraries (listed below). Unfortunately, the Client installer itself cannot bypass the privilege check since it must request the system for privileged services.
· Copy files to Program Files and Windows\System32
· Write system-wide configuration settings to HKLM and HKCR of the system registry.
· Enumerate HKUs of all users and prepare the work folder and editor support for each user.
Note: System Administrators can write a script to achieve remote installation using the Windows Deployment Services to deploy the DSClient on several workstations. Below is an article from Microsoft as well as a link to a tool that may be useful in starting a remote installation.
