Note: This applies to DocuShare Client 6.5 build 24 or 26.
Issue
After using the checkout with option in the DocuShare Windows client, users are no longer able to check out documents.
Steps to replicate issue:
- From the DocuShare Windows client, browse to a Microsoft Office document.
- Right-click and select Checkout with option. The Edit With window will be displayed.
- In the Editor applications available for the file field highlight the Office application to open with and click the OK button.
- A Settings pop up window may be displayed stating that “The selected application is the default editor application DocuShare Client usesâ€. Click the OK button.
- A few seconds later, a DocuShare Client pop up window is displayed with the following error:
Failed function: Run OpenWith UI
Error: ITEMOBJ_DSEDIT_FAIL (code FFFFFF23)
After this happens the Checkout Method is changed from ODMA to NONE and the end user is no longer able to use DocuShare Windows Client until an Administrator changes the Checkout Method to the correct protocol.
Solution
Note: To prevent this issue from happening again, users should not use the Checkout with option in the DocuShare Windows Client.
To resolve the issue an Administrator must change the Checkout method back to the correct protocol.
To change the checkout method:
1. Right-click the DocuShare Windows Client icon and select DocuShare Client Settings. The DocuShare Client Properties window is displayed.
2. Select the File Types tab.
3. In the Available types in Explorer field highlight the application that no longer opens with the client.
4. From the file type details section, select ODMA protocol from the Check out using menu.
5. The Settings popup window displays. Click the No button. Then click the Yes button.
6. The ODMA protocol should now be displayed in the Check out using menu.
7. Click the OK button.
